2010 All American Quarter Horse Congress entries

due August 25, 2010

The 2010 All American Quarter Horse Congress will be here before we know it, and the paperwork process for this year’s show will begin later this month when entry brochures begin to hit mailboxes. Two show brochures, one containing AQHA, NRHA, NSBA and Stakes entry information, and the other containing NCHA Cutting entry materials, will mail by the end of July.
Entries for the 2010 show are due back to the OQHA office in Richwood on August 25. Entries will be accepted with a postmark of no later than August 25 to avoid late fees.
Exhibitors can enter the new Open Two-Year-Old Western Pleasure Stakes class that is open to previously shown, or non-maiden, two-year-olds. The entry fee for the new class is $400 and the class features $10,000 in added money. The class was added as a result of OQHA’s decision to return the Congress Two-Year-Old Snaffle Bit Futurity to “maiden,” or previously unshown two-year-olds.
Also new to the 2010 Congress is the Cinch Team Roping Challenge. The event will invite the fastest qualifiers from the AQHA Open Heading and Heeling and the Amateur Heading and Heeling to compete in the Cinch Team Roping Challenge. Times from the AQHA classes will not carry over into the Challenge, but instead will feature a clean slate paid on a two-head average. The Challenge is planned to have a $20,000 added purse divided 70 percent to the Open and 30 percent to the Amateur division.  There is no additional entry fee, but finalists must have entered their respective Open or Amateur AQHA Heading and Heeling classes.
Don’t forget that this year, Roping events will take place much earlier, with the Gist Tie Down Roping Classic to be held Thursday, October 7, followed by the AQHA Open, Amateur and Youth Roping and Heading and Heeling events as well as the Cinch Team Roping Challenge, all on Friday, October 8.
This year’s Congress trade show will open on Tuesday, October 5, at 9:30 a.m. and operate daily throughout the Congress. The per-vehicle admission charge and parking restrictions will be enforced beginning on the first day of the show, October 1.
The 2010 Congress will continue to include many of its traditional events, including the Professional Bull Riders Tour, the Congress Freestyle Reining, the Congress Masters classes, Million Dollar Stallion Avenue, the National Youth Activity Team Tournament, the Congress Queen Contest, the Intercollegiate and Junior Judging Contest, and Quarter Horse Congress racing at Beulah Park.
The 2010 Congress will be held October 1-24 at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus.
